Formé en 1997 autour de Cyril Secq et Yvan Ros comme un duo guitare/batterie, astrïd s’est stabilisé avec les arrivées successives de la violoniste Vanina Andréani (1998), puis du clarinettiste Guillaume Wickel (2005).

La musique d’astrïd puise ses sources dans la musique improvisée, le folk et le jazz des années 70, la musique classique et contemporaine de Ravel à Arvo Pärt.

Depuis 2007, le groupe vit et travaille entre Nantes et Marseille.

astrïd s’est produit en concert, souvent dans des lieux atypiques (théâtres, salles de danse, églises...), et a partagé la scène avec Rachel’s, Gregor Samsa, Balmorhea...

astrïd a travaillé avec des vidéastes, des chorégraphes, et sur la trilogie de courts métrages NYC3 de Guillaume Paturel.

Astrïd mène aussi des projets en parallèle, notamment avec Sylvain Chauveau (Butterfly in the Snowfall) et Rachel Grimes.

Created in 1997 around Cyril Secq and Yvan Ros, as a guitar/drums duo, astrïd expanded and settled with successive arrivals of the violin player Vanina Andreani (1998) followed by the clarinet player Guillaume Wickel (2005).

astrïd’s music is inspired by improvised music, folk and jazz from the seventies, as well as by classical and contemporary composers, from Ravel to Arvo Pärt.

Since 2007, the group lives and works between Nantes and Marseille (France).

astrïd has performed in concert, often in atypical venues (theatres, dance stages, churches, café Oto/London, Whitechapel Gallery/London, Ingleby Gallery/Edinburgh…), and has shared the stage with Rachel’s, Balmorhea, Gregor Samsa, and others.

The group has worked with video creators, choreographers and has created music for a trilogy of short movies called NYC3 by Guillaume Paturel .

Astrïd has also created different projects of collaborations with other artists, in particular with French composer, singer and instrumentalist Sylvain Chauveau (Butterfly in the Snowfall) and with American composer and pianist Rachel Grimes (Rachel’s).

“Pieces and Parts” appear to be a full band ensemble, joining Astrïd, Rachel Grimes and Sylvain Chauveau, as a live project.
